Wall Light Manufacturer for Brands: OEM, ODM & Wholesale

Wall lights rarely get the attention that pendants do, yet they carry some of the hardest work in a commercial lighting program. A hotel corridor, a bathroom vanity, a facade that faces the weather: each one needs a fixture that sits inside the collection visually while surviving a very different physical environment. The gap between how a wall light looks and how it has to be built is where most sourcing problems start.

This guide is written for brands, retailers, wholesalers and lighting designers who buy wall lights at volume, and covers the indoor and outdoor split, the OEM/ODM/private label decision, and the specifications that decide field performance.

One design language, two very different builds

The same silhouette can be engineered as an indoor sconce or an outdoor fitting, but almost everything under the surface changes. An outdoor wall light needs a genuine IP rating (IP54 for sheltered positions, IP65 for exposed ones), a finish that survives cleaning chemicals and salt air, a sealed gasket, and a driver that tolerates temperature swings. An indoor sconce cares more about finish quality, dimming behavior, and how the glow sits against plaster or tile.

This is why the two supply chains tend to split, and why it helps to work with a manufacturer that runs both. When indoor and outdoor variants share one design language, a hotel can carry the same collection from its lit facade into the lobby and guest bathrooms without the fixtures looking like they came from different factories. Our range follows this logic: the Cup Cake wall light is rated IP54, and the Rain series extends family design into exposed outdoor positions. The full decorative range is on our decorative lighting manufacturer page.

OEM, ODM and private label, in practice

  • OEM. You supply the design or an approved sample; the factory builds to it. This fits buyers who own the IP and need capacity rather than development.
  • ODM. The factory’s proven platform is customized: shape, finish, IP grade, driver, smart module. It is the faster route to a project-ready SKU, and the one most brands actually start with.
  • Private label. A catalogue model ships under your brand with minimal change. Lowest effort, tightest margin, and the closest to what competitors can also buy.

In practice most wall light programs blend the three. A wholesaler tends to run private label across the breadth of the range and ODM for a few hero sconces, while a brand often starts with ODM and moves its best-seller into OEM once volume justifies tooling. The right model depends on how much control you need and how fast you need to launch.

Specifications that decide field performance

  • IP rating. IP54 for sheltered positions, IP65 for exposed ones. Match the rating to the real installation site, not the brochure photo.
  • Finish and corrosion. Coastal sites and hospitality properties that clean aggressively need finishes specified for that treatment.
  • Driver and dimming. TRIAC, 0-10V or DALI, matched to the building’s control system. A sconce that dims badly gets noticed by guests every night.
  • Photometric distribution. Up-light, down-light or wash changes what the wall does to the room.
  • Certifications. UL or cETL for North America, CE for Europe, with RoHS and REACH documentation on file.

Decorative filament technology adds a dimension that commodity wall lights lack. Our Solor Corona 360, Repetition 360 and Stella 360 wall lights bring patented double-glass filament structures to the wall format, so a program can keep its signature glow consistent across pendant, bulb and wall categories. Filament pairings are covered on our LED filament bulb manufacturer page.

MOQ, lead times and wholesale wall lights

Wall lights are a project category. A single hotel can specify several hundred units across wet and dry locations, so for wholesale wall lights the reorder cadence matters as much as the unit price. MOQs typically start in the low hundreds per SKU and rise with customization depth. Sampling and production timelines vary by scope, so we quote them per program rather than promising a number that changes the moment a custom finish enters the spec.

The safe workflow protects both sides: approved sample, signed spec sheet, pre-production run, AQL inspection, then bulk release. Get the spec sheet in writing before the deposit, and most disputes never happen.

How to evaluate a wall light manufacturer

  • Certificates for your target market. Ask for the actual PDF, not a claim on the website.
  • A third-party AQL report from a recent order, ideally one at your volume.
  • A reference account in your own channel: retail, brand, or project.
  • Written lead times, ideally with a record of how the factory handled a late season.
  • For outdoor SKUs, an IP test report from the lab. Request the document, not the rating printed on the page.

The mistake we see most often

Buyers approve a wall light from a single photo and only discover the problems on site: a carton that arrives without retail-ready labelling, an outdoor variant that corrodes where the indoor one survived, a photometric spread that never matches the mood board the client signed off.

So separate the two approvals. A retailer should confirm carton-ready labelling and batch consistency. A brand should lock the finish across indoor and outdoor variants of the same collection. A designer should verify the photometric spread against the scheme, not against a render. The photo tells you how a fixture looks. The spec sheet tells you whether it will install. Treat them as two documents, and most field issues disappear before the first container ships.

Where Hangke fits

Hangke builds wall lights as OEM and ODM for brands, retailers, and designers, covering indoor sconces and IP54/IP65 outdoor wall lights from a shared design language, with decorative filament wall lights as the category’s point of difference. If you are planning a wall light line for 2026, send a reference image and your target market. We will scope OEM versus ODM, confirm the certifications your market requires, and return a sample plan and lead time with no commitment required.
